Titles

Great compilation of title design over the years. Definitely some of my favourites are featured including Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Adéu, Barcelona!

This video gave me a lump in my throat. What a way to show your appreciation and gratitude! Now I feel like doing something sweet. Like buying a stranger a cinnamon bun.

(PS. While this whole video is heartwarming, I get an extra heart squeeze near the end when the construction worker looks up and smiles).

dot

I really enjoy stop-motion animation and this one is really great. It's the world's smallest stop-motion animation character shot on a Nokia N8:

Professor Fletcher's invention of the CellScope, which is a Nokia device with a microscope attachment, was the inspiration for a teeny-tiny film created by Sumo Science at Aardman. It stars a 9mm girl called Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world.

sub city

When I visited New York last year, I spent a lot of time riding the subway. By the time you emerge from the subway stairs, you're anxious to embark on your next adventure in a new pocket of the city. I love how this video captures that feeling of discovery.

book autopsies

Brian Dettmer recycles outdated books, dictionaries and encyclopedias to make incredible book sculptures. His intricate carving gives these books great layers and depth.

Reference works are Brian’s favorite material because of the rich illustrated content, but regardless of what he works with, he never inserts any new material or move the content of the book around just to make it more interesting.
