Arrivals

Most people don't like the endless waiting at airport arrivals, but I think I fall into that small category of people who do. You get to people watch and also witness some really heartwarming moments when people are reunited.

Although this was orchestrated by T-Mobile, I feel it transcends the title of "ad".

I am in love with the airport...for the exact same reason. It is a petri dish of life: love, loss, anxiety, anticipation, excitement. How can you go wrong?! When I was in high school, my best friend and I would drive to the airport (about 8p) and sit in the 2nd floor open-air lobby of the airport hotel, smoke endless cigarettes and talk about our amazing future. The airport always holds the enchantment of possibility for me.
No wonder we get along so well! xo lovely.
A friend of mine once told me that he thought the airport was both the happiest place and the saddest place in the world. It was where "happiness" was in its purest form and sadness was in its most hurtful. Hugh Grant's opening monologue in the film "Love Actually" summed up what my friend said really well. Ever since then, every now and then a sunday afternoon was spent at the arrivals with a coffee and my moleskin sketchbook.
